In 2019, I aimed to paint up 4 full arimies. I did this but found a flaw in this plan. I didn’t become good in any of them to make it fun for any one. I jus had a base line idea on how they each played. For the next year, I need to focus my attention a bit more.
In 2020 my goal is to build up an Apocalypse sized Chaos army. This is going to be a mix of different Chaos Space Marine armies, daemons, knights. I’m also going to throw some more narrative ones in as well (Looking at you Dark Machanicum). I want to see how big I can make it in one year. The whole idea is to make it into one massive narrative army.
My over all goal is to have an army that tells a story. What that story is? Well I’m still working on that one but for now that’s the plan. There is a basic setting though. They will be set on a world that is under Imperial control. The city will be on the edge of a desert so the basing for some will be set in the wastes, while others are set in the urban areas. One or two factions will be on the edge. I will also need to figure out how to add a agriculture area or something in that area for the Nurgle daemons to help tie in their waste corruption areas as well.
My first focus will be on the marines. For the Heretic Marines, I’m going to do different legions and renegade chapters. They will all be tied into a joint effort to destroy an Imperial world on the commands of Abbadon. But more on these armies in different posts.
Knights will be a slow build army. I’m going to add a model now and then as I finish each of these monster sized kits. The main focus will be on the other armies while this detachment will be more for a nice fun large model build between more grueling horde army builds.
Now for those odd ball ones. I’ll be holding off till the end in case these get official releases. I’m going to add a detachment of Dark Machnicum using the Ad Mech book and one of Traitor Guard using the Astro Militirum book. These are more for the fun of it.
The idea for each army will be a full 100 power level force per faction included. This way I can play a normal 40k game with each of them. There are some that will be themed around formations from the Vigilince campaign books. Others from stories I read from Black Library. Some will just be because I think it would be cool.
With all of this, I hope to have a large collection that gives me some different styles of play but with a core set up that I can use to really develop some experience with. So let’s see how it goes.
